The line we fly by

Our story

Technique Only was built around a simple idea: flight training should create better pilots without taking the fun out of flying.

We are not trying to be a traditional flight school or an airline-pilot factory. Our community includes people pursuing aviation as a career and people who simply dreamed of becoming a pilot, want to fly with their family, build time, add a rating, or become a more capable aviator. There is room here for all of them.

What really differentiates us is the culture. Aviation should feel like something you are part of, not something you buy by the hour. Students end up among instructors, owners, time builders and enthusiasts who genuinely enjoy being at the airport and helping one another improve.

Our training philosophy follows the same idea. Passing a checkride matters, but it is not the finish line — we are trying to develop safe, confident and capable pilots with real-world judgement and aircraft-handling skills. We also think aviation has become unnecessarily difficult and expensive to reach, so we work at keeping it safe, fun and affordable: multiple aircraft, two locations, rental and time-building options, and training paths designed around how people actually use aviation.

Two untowered fields

Skyhaven and Limington-Harmon are both non-towered, which means the pattern belongs to the aircraft in it. A lesson starts when the airplane is ready, not when a tower has worked through the line.
The Hobbs stops when the flying does

Instructors here do not run the meter on the ground. Briefings, debriefs and the walk back to the hangar are not billed as flight time — that is a house rule, not a promotion.
Sport pilots are pilots

The Sport Pilot certificate is a full training path here, not a consolation prize handed to someone who asked about a medical. Plenty of people fly for a lifetime on it.
A community, not a counter

Students share the ramp with instructors, owners, time builders and people who turn up because they like being at the airport. That is the part of aviation that keeps people flying after the checkride.

First light

The smoothest air of the day is at dawn.

Calm, stable, and empty of traffic. It is why the first lesson on the schedule is so often the one students remember.
